P-CAP Touch

Capacitive touch panels have the multi-touch ability and are extremely durable in most environments against dripping water, dust, and grease. These products will activate with either a bare finger or a capacitive stylus and have excellent dragging performance. A Projected Capacitive Touch (CPT; also PCAP) technology consists of an insulator such as glass, which is coated with a transparent conductor, like ITO (indium tin oxide). The user’s finger conducts electricity, so touching the surface of the screen results in a distortion of the screen’s electrostatic field; that distortion is measurable as a change in capacitance and distinguishes the working spot.
